Catalogue Note
Rare. Although this celebrated edition, the subject of a famous anecdote in Geog Nikolaus Nissen's biography of Mozart, is described as the second issue in Haberkamp, recent studies have shown conclusively that it is in fact the first: see Rupert Ridgewell, 'Biographical Myth and the Publication of Mozart's Piano Quartets', Journal of the Royal Musical Assocation, 135/1 (2010), pp.41-114.
