Catalogue Note

This appears to be the main autograph source for Liszt's arrangement. Raabe lists no autograph of the "Ave Maria d'Arcadelt" for piano, but only of his transcription of the choral work.  In fact, Liszt's model for this work was an adaptation by Louis Dietsch (1808-1865) of Arcadelt's chanson 'Nous voyons que les hommes' (1554).  Liszt's version was published by Peters in 1865, together with an 'Alleluja'.
