Catalogue Note

Rare.  There were relatively few contemporary editions of Haydn's concertos and they practically never come up for auction.  This is Haydn's most famous piano concerto.  Boyer's edition was advertised seven weeks earlier than Artaria's edition, and RISM lists no copy of the piano solo part in Austria or the United States and only one in Britain and Germany.  Copies with the instrumental parts are found only in France. The London edition is apparently even scarcer.  Neither edition is in Hoboken's own collection.
