Catalogue Note
Of the various reproductions of the celebrated 1775 portrait in oils of Gluck by Duplessis (since 1824 in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna), the present engraving by Miger, a rare example printed from the original plates, is generally considered the best. Formerly from the legendary collection of Louis Koch.
