Catalogue Note

The hand-coloured suite of plates after paintings by the Regent Philippe d'Orléans was originally produced for a 1718 edition of Longus (known as the Régent edition). This suite was probably from the 1787 (though the plates here are dated 1788) edition published by Lamy; Cohen-De Ricci (655) mentions several copies with "miniatures gouachées".
