Catalogue Note
The binding is most likely to be Roman; it has some tools in common with bindings executed for Urban VIII in the 1630s-1640s (in particular the outer borders and the tool used to create the lace fans in the corners). As the arms are stamped in silver on a gold shield and partly obscuring the cardinal's regalia surrounding the arms, it is possible that a number of copies were bound for presentation, and the arms of each individual superimposed later.
