Median folio (343 x 238mm.), [1]4 a-z & aa-pp10 qq12, 404 (of 406) leaves, 70 lines of commentary plus headline, gothic letter, printed in red and black throughout, woodcut illustrations, contemporary chained binding, reversed calf over wooden boards, metal centre- and cornerpieces, two clasps, vellum title-label on upper cover, chain attached to top of lower board, four bifolia from two mid fifteenth-century German manuscripts in Latin on vellum used as board liners, some leaves with deckle edges, lacking a1 (start of text with woodcut) and h1, first quire loose, binding rubbed and soiled, spine chipped at head and foot, upper joint cracked
