Catalogue Note
First edition of Casanova's translation of the first 17 books of the Iliad, published soon after his return to Venice in 1774 following eighteen years of exile. The final fourth volume (containing the last seven books) was never published. This edition is rare - there are no copies recorded by ABPC or Copac, and ICCU records four copies in Italian libraries. A facsimile was published in Venice in 2007.
