Condition
Original canvas.
There is dust and very minor surface dirt to the canvas. There are faint areas of craquelure, including to the mauve pigment of the upper left hand quadrant; a small area of pink to the centre of the composition; a thick area of green pigment in the lower left; and the thicker areas of yellow pigment in the upper centre and upper right hand quadrant. There is a tiny fleck of paint loss to the light green pigment near the centre of the composition.
Ultraviolet light reveals an uneven varnish which makes the reading difficult to interpret. There is an area of fluorescence to the edges of the piece in the upper left corner, which may correspond to old retouching.
Held in a thick, distressed-effect painted frame.
