Description
- Shani Rhys James
- Key II (Self Portrait)
- oil on canvas
- 76 by 60.5cm.; 30 by 24in.
- Executed in 1996.
Condition
Original canvas.
There is minor surface dirt and dust to the work, most visible in the thicker areas of impasto. There are very minor, isolated areas of fine craquelure to the lower edge and some of the fine tips of the thicker paint may have been lost at an earlier stage. This excepting the work appears to be in very good, original condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals some flecks of fluorescence, which appear in keeping with the artist's materials, and do not suggest retouching.
Housed in a thin gilt and black-painted frame, tightly float-mounted.
