Condition
Original canvas. It undulates slightly in each corner, and there are two faint protrusions in the upper right corner.
There is a horizontal line of craquelure along the upper left edge. There is an area of craquelure, with a small spot of resultant paint loss, to the right of the red sun upper right and another in the curtain upper left. There is also some craquelure above the yellow pepper. There are spots of staining and possible mould across the canvas, located mainly in the lower left quadrant. A light clean would be recommended.
Under ultraviolet light there appear to be no signs of retouching.
Held in a light-coloured wood frame.
