Condition

Printed in black ink on a fragment of natural coloured woven cotton, with variations in the colour (it has not been bleached white). The original dark brown woven selvedge is present on the left side. All other sides have been cut and are irregular, with some short loose threads commensurate with cutting. The lower edge of this fragment has been turned under and has a row of running stitch in white twisted thread. There is a short vertical split (approx. 2cm. long) revealing the mounting board underneath, in the top left corner to the left of the letter `M'. There is another longer and wider irregular split in the top right corner (approx. 8cm long), with evidence of glue underneath on close inspection. There are smaller vertical splits on the far right side, near the letter `X' which runs past the `0' , and there is a small hole in the lower right corner to the right of the SBI, with vestiges of glue. There are some small areas of thread loss in the black print of the number `0' in the top line and the letter `S' underneath. Some creases. Now mounted against board in later glazed, silvered frame.
