Catalogue Note

The current canvas was part of a series of works titled Stations of a Pause. This canvas addresses Kallat's ongoing concerns with the polarities of urban existence. Kallat depicts Mumbai's street inhabitants, seated in relaxed poses waiting and watching as the mundanity of life passes them by. The canvas is dissected by a larger zipper, fragmenting the image and revealing beneath the layers of urban iconography and survival.
