Description

  • Haut. 50 cm, larg. 23 cm
  • Height 19 2/3 in; width 9 in
la caisse ajourée à décor d'enroulements, fleurettes et cartouches rocaille, surmontée d'un masque d'homme barbu grimaçant, coiffé d'un bonnet

Condition

The picture is slightly too bright, otherwise accurate. The gilding is slightly rubbed and dirty: would benefit from light cleaning. The small glass on the lower part is broken and partly missing. The glass on the left side is loose and on the right side is missing. A small hole on the lower part (right side) possibly indicates a missing element. Dial in good condition, hands replaced. Movement is very dirty and not running, quarter repeating spring broken, bells missing, needs a complete clean and service. Old repair to bezel has failed and could be improved. No pendulum or winder. Very fine model, with original and rare detail of bearded man wearing a hat, from one of the best 18th century clockmakers.
