Description

  • sur une croix en bois noirci probablement postérieure; sur un fond en velours
  • Haut. (ivoire) 60 cm; haut (croix) 91 cm
  • Height (ivory) 23 1/2 in; (cross) 35 3/4 in
la bouche ouverte, les yeux levés au ciel; le perizonium noué sur sa hanche droite, retenu par une corde et blousant sur le devant. De ses plaies aux deux mains et pieds, s'écoulent deux gouttes de sang;

Condition

The crucifix is in very good overall condition with a few very fine hairline cracks at several places, and some minor surface dirt in the crevisses. The Christ's arms are sculpted separately, joints are visible on both shoulders, with one small chip below His right arm. The ivory shows some dark coulouring on the back side and between the Christ's legs.
