Condition
The illustration of the catalogue is accurate. Good overall condition despite the inevitable scratches and marks due to age and handling. The patina is worn on the stalactites of the bells. The enamel around the dial and at the back is worn with various cracks and losses. A front leg of the elephant has been restored. Both ivory tusks and the nose have been restored.
Conventional Japanese dial in generally good condition, later fixed alarm pin. Posted three train fusee movement with verge and foliot, locking plate striking on a bell and operating the automaton trunk and waterfall, all appears complete, clean and running at time of cataloguing. With a winder. Please note that we do not guarantee the working of the mechanism.
