Description

  • gold, diamond, enamel, pearl, ruby
Designed as a tiger emerging from a foliate frame applied with white, black, red and green enamel, set with single-cut diamonds weighing approximately .60 carat, accented by two pear-shaped ruby eyes, the palm tree decorated with two cultured pearls, gross weight approximately 48 dwts; from the 'Bestiario Feroce' collection circa 1966-1971.

Condition

In fair condition with overall wear, areas of discoloration and porosity to the gold. Minor areas of loss and repair to the white and black enamel; the translucent red enamel appers to bear a shallow chip on the tiger's nose exposing a small area of the gold base, but this may also be a manufacturing irregularity. The deep red ruby is lightly included and the small round diamonds are near colorless and decorative in quality. The round slightly silvery white pearls present moderate pink and green overtones, very good luster, and minor blemishing. Stamped F.C., possibly for the Italian firm Frascarole.
