The pendant-brooch centered by a cultured pearl measuring approximately 9.9 mm, highlighted by 16 cabochon emeralds, 21 cabochon rubies and round diamonds weighing approximately 2.00 carats, signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered 93638, with French assay and workshop marks; suspended by a fancy-link chain spaced at intervals by 22 emerald beads, length 27½ inches, numbered 93638, with French assay marks.
Condition
In good condition. The cultured pearl is button-shaped, creamy white with soft rose overtones and minute blemishing visible under magnification. The emerald beads and cabochons are medium green, translucent and moderately included, many examples with surface-reaching inclusions. The medium-deep purplish red rubies range from translucent to semi-opaque, moderately to heavily included, with surface-reaching inclusions visible on several of the stones. The diamonds are approximately G-H color, VVS-VS clarity. When the pendant is detached and worn as a brooch, the pin fitting dictates that the motif be rotated 90 degrees.
