18 Karat Two-Color Gold and Sapphire 'Melone' Bag, Bulgari

Of oval shape and fluted design, with alternating swirls of yellow and white gold, completed by a cabochon sapphire thumbpiece and a detachable silk tassel, the interior fitted with a mirror, gross weight approximately 308 dwts, signed Bulgari, circa 1970-1980.

In good condition with some overall scratching to the gold and minor patches of discoloration. The alternating swirls of white gold have a more silvery rather than gray overtone as illustrated in the printed catalogue. The cabochon sapphire is medium-deep blue, moderately to heavily included with some surface-reaching inclusions visible under magnification. The mirror in the interior in good condition with light surface wear and slightly loose within the frame. Signed Bulgari on the interior and on the exterior loop where the tassel attaches.
