Description

  • mauboussin
  • platinum, diamond, sapphire, emerald, ruby, brooch
Inspired by the Taj Mahal and its surrounds, set throughout with single-cut, baguette and half-moon-shaped diamonds weighing approximately 2.10 carats, one tree set with a carved emerald, accented by ruby and sapphire cabochons, signed Mauboussin, partial numbering, French assay mark.  With box signed Trabert & Hoeffer, Mauboussin.

Condition

In good condition with gentle surface wear to the mounting. The emerald carved in relatively high relief and displaying moderate color zoning. Transparent but highly included as typically found with carving material with some surface-reaching inclusions. The lively pinkish red rubies at the top of the minarets are eye-clean; possibly synthetic but the size of the stones and the mounting impede drawing a firm conclusion. The deeper pinkish red ruby figure is slightly included; the medium blue sapphire figure is moderately included. The 30 single-cut, 7 baguette and 1 half-moon-shaped diamonds are approximately F-H color, VS clarity. Signed on the base. With indistinct numbering on the side, possibly 92106. The signed box might not be original to the piece.
