Two ruby and diamond rings, 1930s

Each ring of bombé hammerhead design, respectively set with circular-cut rubies and diamonds, ruby ring size 55^1/2, diamond ring size 55, both with sizing bands.

Rubies of Burmese origin cannot be imported into the US. This piece may contain rubies of Burmese origin and therefore may not be able to be imported into the US. Rubies overall well matched in colour, with typical crystal inclusions, several nicks, scratches and abrasions, rubies closer to the band rubbed, maybe due to wearing the diamond ring at the same time on the finger. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 4.00 carats, on average of H-J colour and VS-I clarity, as gauged and graded in mounting. Signs of normal to extensive wear to the metal, scratches consistent with use, ring sizer to both rings. In good condition.

It is understood that these rings were formerly in the collection of Tamara de Lempicka (1898-1980), a Polish born painter who found great success in the 1920s with her distinctive Art Deco style. One of the most sought after portrait painters of her time, her work is highly collectible to this day.
