Designed as a turtle, the cabochon emerald shell carved with foliate motifs measuring approximately 22.4 by 20.5 mm, accented by numerous marquise and pear-shaped rubies, set throughout with numerous round diamonds weighing approximately 2.90 carats, gross weight approximately 24 dwts, signed Cartier Paris, numbered 017371 and 9079, with French assay marks.
Condition
In good condition. The center carved emerald is semi-translucent, with typical surface-reaching inclusions, fissures and small cavities. Surrounded by 24 pear and 9 marquise-cut rubies of rich medium slightly purplish red color and good clarity, with a few surface reaching inclusions and light abrading. Further set with 79 diamonds approximately G-H color, VS clarity. Signed Cartier Paris and numbered 017371 on locking pin stem bridge, and numbered 9079 on the underside of the pin stem bridge. Faint scratch mark MB1230 below Cartier Paris signature. With maker's mark and French assay marks on pin stems.
