Description

Of circular form, the pink guilloché enamel background surmounted with the initials A and S on one button and A and A on the other, Russian assay marks and maker's marks for Carl Blank, probably for Hahn, St Petersburg, 1894-1989.
Condition
On stem stamped 56 for 56 zolotnik, equating 14 carat gold. Makers' marks. Enamel on one jewel with hairlines and few areas of loss. Diamonds bright and lively. Signs of normal wear to the metal, scratches consistent with use, discolouration to the reverse. In good condition.

The cyphers are those of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna and Emperor Nicholas II, probably made around the time of their engagement and marriage in 1894 as gifts to family members or courtiers.
