Catalogue Note

Mrs Laura Corrigan made a place for herself in London Society in the 1930's with the vast fortune of her American husband and her own eccentric, amusing personality.

Her malapropisms were as proverbial as her generosity to her grandest friends. She was known to have rigged a charity tombola so that her favourite Duchesses would win the most valuable trinkets and she gave Lady Londonderry priceless heirloom jewellery as well as a selection of objects and ornamental boxes by Cartier and the finest jewellers of the day.
