Catalogue Note

An almost identical spice tower was sold Sotheby's, New York, June 1990, lot 155; that piece had descended in the Greenebaum family, originally from Eppelsheim, Germany.  A similar tower is recorded in the collection of Dr. Karl Rothschild, Gunzenhausen, in 1927, described as "Nuremburg work."
