The case of upright oval section form, the surface later decorated with translucent midnight blue guilloché enamel, with engine-turned waves and engraved ribbon-hung floral wreaths, the lid and base with chased leaf borders, the rim mount set with seed pearls, to a crystal thumb piece, signed Fabergé and numbered, workmaster's initials for Henrik Wigström and Russian assay marks.

Stamped 56 Zolotnik. Signed Fabergé, workmaster's initials for Henrik Wigström, stamps for St Petersburg and 88 standards, scratched inventory number 16159 on inside. The object has been re-enamelled; scratches and little areas of loss, a larger loss below the rim mount approx. 9mm wide. Signs of normal wear to the metal, scratches consistent with use. In good condition.
