Condition

This work is in generally very good condition. The edges of the paperboard are slightly uneven as per the artist's working method and there is a small paint loss at the upper right corner. The surface is clean and the paint texture and pigment are very well retained.

Catalogue Note

After studying at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, Ury made several visits to Brussels and Paris and was inspired to paint city scenes. The present work is among Ury's earliest street views, likely a Parisian shop window, completed circa 1880-81.
