Condition

Silk embroidery laid on board. Stable overall condition. Fragmentary as visible in catalogue illustration. Some losses to eyebrows and mustache in main figure, and to red carpet. This work is dated 18th century, not 15th as stated in the catalogue.

This silk fragment would have made up the lower right corner of a much larger tapestry. The donor figure would be kneeling at the bottom right of the main figure/s. The embroidered Tibetan inscription reads: 'A faithful benefactor offering the three jewels'.
