Condition

The original canvas has been laid down onto another canvas. The picture surface is in generally good condition aside from a darkened varnish. Under UV: some of the darker outlines of the horse and rider fluoresce, which may be due to the artist's retouchings or a later retouching. There is a vertical area of inpainting 2 inches long below the windwill at left. In a hand carved frame decorated with heads of horses and men.
