Catalogue Note

Sang-Hyeob "William" Lee is a young Korean silversmith who continues to work in the UK after training at Camberwell College. In 2003 he won the Young Designer Silversmiths award, shortly before completing his BA in Silversmith and Metal work. He is inspired by the natural fluidity of liquids and his work is clearly influenced by his interest in sculpture, which he followed by taking a sculptural foundation course at Exeter University in 2000. He worked with the renowned sculptor Anthony Gormley and silversmith Hiroshi Suzuki from 2003. In 2005 he was commended in the Silversmith section of the Craftsmanship and Design Awards and today he holds a post of Artist in Residence at Sheffield Hallam University. His work has been exhibited internationally, from the Victoria & Albert Museum and Goldsmiths Hall in London, to the International New York Fair in 2004
