Catalogue Note

The handle, intended to imitate damascening on steel, displays a remarkable number of techniques in a small space. The principal firm working in these advanced mixed medium techniques at this date was Tiffany & Co. in the United States.

Simon Rosenzweig first entered his mark for la bijouterie from 7 rue Réaumur on 31 August 1872.

The partnership between Emile Anthony (whose family firm of jewellers in Antwerp had been founded in 1826) and the three brothers Philippe, Max, Robert and their cousin Albert Wolfers was established in 1897, the year that Philippe had won high acclaim for his stylish stand at the Brussels International Exhibition.
