Catalogue Note

Only very few Rolex watches bearing the Ref. 6062 have been recorded, about 180 pieces were made and only 18 came back to the market. According to our research only one third were born with a so called 'Star Dial'. This particular example, bearing a beautiful aged patina, has remained in its original condition. Ref. 6062 is one of only two models that Rolex produced with date, week days, month and moon-phases indication. The attractive and unusual 'Star Dial' or 'Stelline Dial' is the launching version of Ref. 6062 in 1950 and research suggests that these were produced in limited numbers. It is interesting to note that the 'Super Oyster' crown on the present example was first introduced on Ref. 6062. Unlike earlier models with screw-down crowns, this design combined the ease of a pull-out crown with the water resistance associated with screw-down crowns.

According to our research this watch is one of around 180 pieces made in pink gold from which only eighteen pieces came back to the market.
