Catalogue Note

Cameo set jewels enjoyed a revival during the latter half of the 19th century. Cameos were rarely used as ornamentation on watches, however Vacheron Constantin embraced this revival, as evidenced by watches shown in archival images. For similar examples, see Cologni, F., Vacheron Constantin, pp. 310-31.

The cameos for Vacheron Constantin’s pieces were supplied by Verger Frères, as well as the Swiss workshops of Alfred Kunz and Bonnet-Chappuis.
