Catalogue Note

Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives confirming sale on June 3rd, 1946.

Reference 565 was launched in 1938 and is the first large waterproof wristwatch produced by Patek Philippe. It was created with a screw-down case back, a dust cover to protect from humidity and was produced with several caliber, dial and metal variations. The center seconds, such as the present watch, came out in 1939 with caliber 12 SC (a variant from the original caliber 12 120). According to our research, only 15 pieces bearing this caliber were produced in stainless steel.

Caliber 12 SCi is illustrated in Huber, M. & Banbery, A., Patek Philippe Wristwatches, 1998 Edition, p.180.
