Catalogue Note

With an Extract from the Archives confirming sale on December 10th, 1884.

The case of the present lot is engraved with a Masonic crest with a Latin rendering of the Greek phrase 'In Hoc Signo Vinces' inscribed around the Passion Cross. This motto loosely translates to 'by this sign thou shalt conquer.'
