  • A GOLD PAIR CASE QUARTER REPEATING WATCHCIRCA 1765 NO 1059AND A GOLD PAIR CASE WATCH 1760 NO 475
  • Gold, leather
  • diameters 52 mm and 48 mm
• both: with cylinder escapement, balance cock pierced and engraved with scrolls above a grotesque mask, gilt dust cap • the first: with white enamel dial, Roman numerals, inner case pierced and engraved with scrolls stamped with casemaker's mark PM, outer case overlaid with leather pierced with rondels • the second: with later gold dial, dust cap, plain inner case, the outer case undulating flowers and strapwork, centered by a monogram, both cases hallmarked, London 1760 and further stamped with casemakers mark TC

Condition

Mudge and Dutton, not running, will strike but only just, suggest overhaul, the inner case in good order, the outer with losses to leather particuliarly on bezel near hinge, 5 studs missing from back, dial overall good with no visible hairline, only some surface wear. Mudge- with later gilt dial as noted in catalogue description, some minor dings to inner case, outer case, quite nice and with lovely period monogram.
