Condition

A lovely example. The movement is running at the time of cataloguing, however it may require service soon. The dial shows no visible hairlines. The case is in very nice condition overall with no signs of restoration or loss to the enamel on the case back. There is one very small spot of loss to the enamel on a fleurette on the band at 4:30. The brooch is very well made with graduated coloring to the enamel on the wings and the back is engraved C.L. Hampton, who was the original owner of the watch. The engraving to the cuvette reads Catharine Lowe Hampton, September 15th, 1904.

The engraving to the cuvette is for Catharine Lowe Hampton, September 15th, 1904. Family history records this as the date of her marriage in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is fascinating to imagine the present lot was a wedding gift over a century ago and charms and delights collectors to this day.

The present lot is being offered on behalf of a descendant of the original owner. Sotheby's is pleased to offer this piece for the first time at auction.
