The movement is running at the time of cataloguing and the manually winding calendar advances when activated. The color of the dial is not as dramatic as it may appear in the catalogue, however it has acquired a warm patina to the gilt finish. The printing of the signature and some calendar windows can appear somewhat inconsistent. The hands appear to be applied with lapis lazuli rather than blue enamel as stated in the catalogue. The case with patina throughout consistent with the age of the piece. Well stamped and marked throughout with good definition to the case shape. The interior of the strut is signed Cartier 1884 Paris and the outside of the strut is hand-stamped with reference numbers 3394 and 1884. The underdial is numbered 24042.
