The Ref. 5270G is one of Patek Philippe's most desirable 2011 Basel Fair releases.  Patek Philippe's perpetual calendar chronographs are arguably the most collectible of the manufacturer's complicated range, boasting a prestigious lineage of references including the 1518, 2499, 3970 and 5970.   

Patek Philippe's new perpetual calendar chronograph, the 5270G, replaces the highly sought-after Ref. 5970.  Although many details have been changed, its traditional aesthetics remain.  The dial of Ref. 5270G is clean, modern and easy to read.   Comprised of 456 parts, the Ref. 5270G features an in-house chronograph calibre CH 29-535 PS manufactured in 2009 and incorporates a new perpetual calendar module.  The new movement aims to reduce wear, boost efficiency, and prevent tooth tip collisions.  For the wearer, these advancements reduce the jumping motion that chronograph hands sometimes make from the zero position, while the improved tooth profiles reduce friction to enable the continuous running of the  chronograph seconds hand.   

Ref. 5270G is a contemporary classic.  The gold numerals are subtly colored black through an oxidizing process, while its hand-crafted 18k white gold case maintains the rectangular chronograph pushers, as seen on Patek Philippe's 1940s and 1950s perpetual calendar chronographs.  The Ref. 5270G makes its auction debut, will undoubtedly appeal to sophisticated watch collectors pleasing aesthetics and high performance.
