Acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, in 1970 (accession numbers 1970.325.1 and 1970.325.2)

Condition

Both with weathering, wear, and oxidation including rust-colored discoloration. Both with cracks, especially at seams where groups meet rectangular lead ground. Other small cracks and some holes from casting throughout. Both on associated molded cement bases. Group with whip: Restoration on bottom of fish's proper right fin. Cracks where fish meets base. Several areas of fill to cracks. Group without whip: One side of base separated from group, the other side with open cracks to base. Three of four corners with separation. Head of top child with repair to neck.
