Description

- The Bucintoro Returning to the Molo on Ascension Day

Condition
The canvas has an old glue lining which is secure. The paint surface appears in very good condition with minor retouches in the sky faintly visible to the naked eye. There is a slight stretcher impression on the upper edge. Inspection under UV reveals little or no intervention in the figures, vessels and architecture though there is extensive retouching and some strengthening in the lower section of the sky and the lower and left hand edges. There is a possible repaired tear downward to the left hand side of the upper edge of approximately 3 inches, minor inpainting along an old stretcher mark to the right hand edge and retouching in the upper left hand corner.
Offered in a carved gilt wood frame.
