Condition

The canvas is relined with a reinforced strip running horizontally across the width, approximately one foot from the upper edge. To the naked eye the paint surface is secure and in good condition with visible minor retouching. Inspection under UV reveals extensive retouching and strengthening throughout. A strip of inpainting fluoresces across the width of the upper edge, suggesting the canvas may have at one time been folded with resulting damage though this is not visible to the naked eye and does not affect the reading of the painting. There is a repaired tear of approximately one foot in the lower right corner. Offered in a carved gilt wood frame.
