Condition

Canvas has been wax relined. in general, the paint surface has been well preserved, with only some thinness to the darks noticeable at left side and in the tassles of her hat at lower left. examination under ultraviolet reveals retouching to address what appears to be an old repaired puncture in her gown at lower center. there are other scattered retouches in the form of inpainting of craquelure in her flesh tones and white gown. other scattered retouches here and there on plaid sash, gown and background landscape, but these are not extensive for a picture of this size. the painting is presentable and could be hung as is. In a gilt wood frame with losses at upper and right edges.
