Canvas is unlined. the impression from the stretcher bars is visible on front of canvas all around edges of painting. some slight puckering of cavas at right side. under a very dirty, dscolored old varnish. overall the paint surface has been very well preserved and there is good, thick impasto. ultraviolet light reveals some scattered, small retouches to face and c ostume with a larger retouch over a possible old puncture at lower right. some other minor retouches in background. this picture has not been attended to in a very long time and would benefit from sensitive restoration which could greatly improve it's overall appearance. In a plain black wood frame.
