Relined and under a dirty and uneven old varnish. the paint surface is well preserved with nice, thick imasto. some losses can be seen along extreme upper edge due to rubbing from the frame. a couple of other very small losses can be seen at lower right and some other minor scuffs here and there. under UV: there are scattered retouches to figure and in background. those on figure include some on eyes, cheeks, nose, neck and hand. a few on costume. some of these retouches have discolored with age and are now visible to naked eye. this painting has not bee attended to in a long time and would benefit from sensitive restoration.
