Condition
The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
This panel has been restored quite recently and should be hung as is. There is a slightly contemporary feeling to the base of the work which could be adjusted. The reverse of the panel seems to be in very good condition with two horizontal reinforcements and the completely new base at the bottom. The visible framework on the front is restored, yet is mostly original. The painted area and the gilded halos have been restored well and are in very good condition throughout. The amount of retouching is extremely modest and we are happy to recommend the condition.
