Condition

The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This charming panel has been cradled on the reverse. The paint layer is stable. There is a large visible crack in the center on the right side and other smaller cracks in the panel in the upper left and upper right. The painting has not been restored for some time and it would be beneficial to clean it, removing the old restoration and addressing some of the cracks and minor losses where they exist. The only restorations of any note are situated in the head of the male rider in the foreground and in the landscape immediately surrounding this head.
