Condition

Overall good condition with two repaired breaks to the ankles, some wear to the patina. Sword probably replaced.

Catalogue Note

Dans la galerie du sculpteur Girardon se trouve un homme nu tenant une tête, décrit comme "modelé de terre de Rome par François Duquesnoy flamand". Ce bronze dérive de la statuette du Bourreau brandissant la tête de St Jean-Baptiste ornant un reliquaire à San Giovanni Decollato, à Rome.
