le plateau de forme rectangulaire brisé au centre découvrant trois tiroirs plaqués d'écaille rouge et filets d'ivoire à motif géométrique ; ouvrant en ceinture à cinq tiroirs et un vantail central ; à décor sur le plateau, la façade et les côtés de rinceaux et arabesques ; le dos du bureau plaqué d'amarante et bois clair à décor de rinceaux feuillagés stylisés ; reposant sur des pieds à facettes réunis par une entretoise ; (manques et petits accidents à la marqueterie)

Unrestored condition with lifts and loses to the metal and tortoiseshell marquetry.
Quite untouched condition : the marquetry has kept its original engraving.
Dents in places.
Wooden feet ends probably restored.
The back with very nice wood marquetry but damages : the veneer extensively lifted.
The top very well designed.

Catalogue Note
Ce bureau est à rapprocher de la production, très souvent attribuée à celle issue d'ateliers parisiens à la fin du XVIIe siècle comme celui des ébénistes Pierre Gole ou Gaudron. Les inspirations du décor sont variées mais récurrentes sur les planches de Paul Androuet du Cerceau (voir Dessins pour Tables, Bureaux et autres Ouvrages de Marqueterie, d'une série de gravures publiée par Nicolas I Langlois à Paris, vers 1675-1680) où l'on retrouve un dessin avec une composition de rinceaux très déliée autour de laquelle vient s'organiser un jeu de lignes plus géométriques. Ce type de motif sera également utilisé avec succès par André-Charles Boulle et Alexandre-Jean Oppenordt
