Ce modèle de chenets apparemment unique est remarquable par la qualité de sa ciselure. Une paire de chenets aux lévriers au décor proche du nôtre est conservée à la collection Wrighstman de New York (ill. F.J.B. Watson, The Wrightsman Collection, Vol. II, n. 201.A et B)
Une paire de chenets, décrite ainsi: Deux chenets dorés Louis XVI aux chiens accroupis, prisés mille cinq cents francs, était mentionnée dans l'inventaire du reste de la collection Hertford Wallace héritée par John Murray Scott. Ils étaient situés dans l'antichambre de son appartement de la rue Laffitte selon cet inventaire établi après sa mort le 6 février 1912 (Archives de la Wallace Collection, n. 91 et 145).
